Authentic Thai cuisine
Bang Niang has a number of authentic restaurants along the main road between the traffic lights and the northern exit towards Takuapa.
On the left (or sea side) between the traffic lights and the exit to the town there is moderate Thai cuisine and also mostly small restaurants suitable for Europeans.
Truly authentic Thai cuisine is not that easy to find anymore. In Khao Lak Center we only found two restaurants where mostly Thais eat:go pong. Here you meet locals but also tourists who appreciate the low price level.
This is halfway between Nang Thong and Bang NiangTakua PaRestaurant a favorite restaurant of the locals. However, many foreigners do not really dare to eat here when they see the dishes, which are often not very appealing to the eye.
At lunchtime, the (Thai-Chinese) likes to eat noodle soup with chopsticks, very tasty in Ko Seng. All hierarchy classes meet here, from construction lions to poor swallowers.
In the evening, the Thais love "Hot Pot", which can be found in the Jim Jum restaurant next to the large TOT building just before the town ends. There it is best to eat cross-legged in small bamboo salas.
The two restaurants to the left and right of the Petch supermarket should also be mentioned.
The really typical restaurants can be recognized by the fact that they are only labeled in Thai and you usually look in the pots. You will find it on the main street in Bang Niang on the right side, i.e. towards the interior or towards Takuapa.
In the early afternoon around 11:00 a.m. many Thai people eat Kanom Jean (noodles with hot brown sauce) for 30 baht. The dishes do not always look appetizing and the taste only meets that of the Thai and not that of the European. In such restaurants you can also count on very primitive furnishings and a number of flies. The dishes often cost only a third compared to the tourist restaurants. Only the quite large Krua Udom is very good on this page. Good decor, great food until the early morning. The hungry night owls meet here!
