Dining Khao Lak

Thai cuisine is light, varied and tasty. The basis of a meal is rice (khao). It can be cooked or fried in the conventional way or made into pasta as rice flour.

The dishes are prepared in a variety of ways with beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, fish or squid and additionally refined with vegetables, herbs, spices, sauces and pastes.

It is not uncommon for a menu to include well over 50 dishes.

Thai salads (yam) and soups (tom) are also available in many variations. The best known is the shrimp soup (Tom Yam Gung).

Some hotels and some restaurants offer Thai cooking classes, mostly offered by the chef for 2 people,

from 1500 to 2200 baht for 3 to 4 dishes.
